The definition of RF component electromagnetics has evolved to include a very wide frequency band and a wide range of component functions. Frequency bands that are associated with waveguide range from 0.32 GHz to 110 GHz and components that can be built using waveguide technology include:

All of these components have highly specialised synthesis techniques which are applied during their design process. The drawback to using waveguide or finline is that it is expensive to manufacture.
