Problem Description

A growing number of modern commercial and industrial devices employ wireless communication and connectivity technologies. There are often many requirements and limitations placed on the radiating structures. Typically these restrictions may relate to:

  • EMI/EMC characteristics
  • Antenna performance (input impedance, radiation pattern, polarization, etc.)
  • Practical antenna size
  • Available mounting location and space

In order to adhere to performance requirements, detailed measurements using a prototype that accurately reproduces the electromagnetic structure in a realistic environment must be performed. This is often difficult to achieve.

FEKO Solution

FEKO is an ideal tool for computational analysis of integrated antenna performance.

Detailed CAD-based mechanical models of the device and antenna structures can be imported or built directly in CADFEKO and used to generate accurate computational models. These models may include accurate, realistic material properties, thicknesses etc. and can quickly and easily be modified to consider or compare different geometric and electromagnetic cases. All performance requirements can be extracted, plotted and analyzed inside FEKO.

FEKO also provides for optimisation of a specific property by modification of antenna geometry or placement.
