This contribution addresses the efficient numerical analysis and optimisation of mobile antenna systems operating at higher frequencies, where the typical geometrical dimensions exceed one wavelength. Traditional calculation methods are briefly reviewed and compared. The main emphasis of the paper is on the method of moments (MoM), and several extensions are discussed in order to obtain a fast and memory efficient method also for higher frequencies: Parallelisation, acceleration by fast methods, hybridisation with asymptotic techniques, and the combination with analytical methods for specific problems.
