A Log.-Periodic Monopole Antenna for Mobile Application

Log.-periodic monopole (LPM) antennas are in simple words “half” log-periodic dipole (LPD) antennas. While feeding the LPD radiators is quite simple, this is more complicated for LPM antennas. Several feeding concepts exist in the literature [6, 7] and are compared. For the most favourable concept a Y-parameter calculation [1, 3] is set up, to find the ideal parameters for the feeding network. In a next step the antenna properties are simulated with the full 3D MoM solver FEKO [4]. The results of a true scale model, with the last longest radiators omitted, are presented.
