Aircraft Antenna Modeling and Analysis

David W. Estlick and Christopher Beaupre

DWE Aero LLC

Proper placement of antennas on an aircraft is critical to assuring basic operation and mitigating potential mutual interference with other antennas. Perhaps more important, minimizing future changes where installed antennas are required to be moved; a very undesirable, potentially expensive and time consuming event. The opportunity also presents itself for meaningfully reducing the costs associated with testing of antennas, by decreasing the number of required test points. Provided acceptable “fidelity” with the operational requirements of the equipment which is using the antenna is demonstrated.
