Analysis of Patch Antennas Using FEKO

The analysis of microstrip antennas using FEKO, a commercial simulation tool for electromagnetic (EM) field analysis of 3D structures is presented. This paper focuses on two method-of-moments approaches within FEKO for analyzing dielectric materials in the evaluation of patch antennas: Planar Multilayer (PML) Green’s functions and the Surface Equivalence Principle (SEP). Investigation of the patch antenna analysis using these two solution methods includes a discussion of modeling approximations and limitations, and a comparison of performance to published and measured results.
