The accurate knowledge of the properties of dielectric materials is essential to carry out the design of devices and circuits in the W-band (75 – 110 GHz). A quasi-optical measurement system is an attractive alternative to measure these properties since it is contactless, non-destructive and the sample preparation is easy. Furthermore, broadband characterization can be achieved. The aim of this paper is to compile and summarize the main aspects and expressions related to the design of a W-band quasi-optical measurement system. An specific design will be proposed and validated using physical optics simulations.
