Rapid Optimization of Microwave Structures with FEKO Using Shape-Preserving Response Prediction

An efficient technique for rapid design optimization of microwave structures simulated in FEKO is discussed. The presented approach is based on recently introduced shape-preserving response prediction method (SPRP). SPRP allows us to predict the response of the CPU-intensive structure using the set of characteristic points of the response of the physically-based coarse model, here, a relaxedaccuracy representation of the microwave structure in question, also simulated in FEKO. It is demonstrated that the presented technique yields satisfactory design after two or three evaluations of the original structure. Efficiency of our approach is illustrated through the design optimization of double ring antenna and microstrip bandpass filter.
