Improving the parallel efficiency of the SPAI preconditioner in FEKO
Johannes J. van Tonder

The multilevel fast multipole method in the commercial code FEKO uses amongst other options also the Sparse Approximate Inverse (SPAI) preconditioner. The parallel efficiency to construct the SPAI preconditioner is improved by including so-called ghost boxes when computing the near-field matrix, eliminating any communication between the processes. The efficiency is further increased by improving the load balance.
